Almost two dozen local authors and illustrators signed books, presented programs and talked to young fans at “Good Books In Your Neighborhood.” Held at the Fred M. Rogers Center at St. Vincent’s College, the four hour event on September 6, 2008 was sponsored by the St. Vincent College School of Social Sciences, Communication and Education, the WPA SCBWI and the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media.

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., a steady crowd of children and adults enjoyed collecting stacks of books to have signed by the authors and illustrators, enjoyed crafts and other activities, and got their first look at the newly opened Fred Rogers Center. Librarians and PTO members snapped up information about school visits that was available at the session.
